Rigorous testing,
transparent results.
We don’t just claim our technology works, we prove it. Every VerdeTerra product undergoes rigorous testing.
Sealed Environment Testing
Our systems are tested in sealed, controlled environments to isolate performance variables and ensure accurate, repeatable measurements of air purification efficacy.
Repeated Trials
Each test is repeated multiple times to establish statistical significance. Our CO₂ reduction study included five repeated trials with consistent, measurable results across all tests.
Independent Verification
Results are verified by independent institutions including Georgia Tech and supported by EPA research, ensuring our claims are backed by credible, third-party validation.
Real-Time Monitoring
Advanced sensor technology monitors CO₂, VOCs, and particulate matter in real time during testing, providing comprehensive data on system performance across all pollutant types.

The Science
Spirulina Biofiltration
At the heart of VerdeTerra’s technology is Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), a living microalgae that naturally absorbs CO₂ and volatile organic compounds through photosynthesis. This is the same process that nature used to purify our air.
In controlled lab trials our Albero photobioreactor demonstrated rapid uptake at high CO₂ concentrations:
- At 3,000 ppm inlet concentration, removed 1,000 ppm CO₂ within 15 minutes
- Achieved peak adsorption efficiency of 71% at 3,000 ppm CO₂
- Generated robust biomass growth during purification
- Consistent performance across five repeated tests
Filtration Technology
HEPA + UV-C Sterilization
Working alongside our living Spirulina biofiltration, advanced HEPA filtration captures fine particles including dust, pollen, and allergens, while UV-C light provides an additional layer of bacterial and viral control.
This three-stage approach ensures comprehensive air purification:
- Stage 1: Living Spirulina absorbs CO₂ and VOCs through photosynthesis
- Stage 2: HEPA filtration captures particles down to the micron
- Stage 3: UV-C light neutralizes bacteria and viruses
The result is naturally pure air at a molecular level.

Real-Time Monitoring
Smart Sensor Technology
Integrated sensors continuously monitor CO₂, VOCs, and particulate matter in real time. You’ll always know exactly what you’re breathing, and see the system respond in real time.
Indoor air quality is affected by multiple factors:
- CO₂ buildup: From breathing, cooking, and occupancy
- VOCs: From furniture, cleaning products, and materials
- Particulate matter: Dust, allergens, and airborne irritants
- Air stagnation: Sealed buildings trap pollutants inside
Our sensors detect these changes and our system responds automatically, maintaining optimal air quality throughout the day.
Commercial Applications
HVAC Integration
VerdeTerra’s technology isn’t limited to standalone units. Our EPA-funded research demonstrated successful integration with commercial HVAC systems using industry-standard BACnet protocols, enabling scalable air purification for healthcare, office, and institutional buildings.
Key findings from the EPA Phase I research:
- Successful BACnet-based communication with simulated commercial HVAC systems
- System responsiveness to pollutant levels by modulating outdoor air valves
- Potential for significant energy savings through reduced outdoor air ventilation
- Scalable solution for commercial buildings in healthcare, office, and institutional settings

Why It Matters
The air you breathe
matters more than you think.
We spend 85–95% of our lives indoors. The spaces we inhabit shape how we sleep, think, and feel every day. Yet indoor pollutants can be up to 5 times higher than outdoor levels, with CO₂ often exceeding healthy limits.
Poor air quality impacts cognition and productivity by up to 9%. Moderate CO₂ levels can cause headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. And increased rates of respiratory illnesses, especially in children and the elderly, are directly linked to indoor air quality.
