At VerdeTerra, Albero taught us something important.
It proved that a living air system could be beautiful and incredibly efficient. The bubbling bioreactor at the heart of Albero creates strong contact between air and the living culture, and that efficiency is a big part of what makes the system work so well.
But it also revealed a natural limit.
As we kept thinking bigger, toward commercial buildings and HVAC-scale systems, we saw that bubbling air through a bioreactor can only move so much airflow. For larger applications, the challenge is not just efficiency inside the reactor. The challenge is creating a system with high surface contact area, high throughput, strong efficiency on the first pass, and simplicity.
That realization pushed our thinking in a new direction.
Instead of only asking how to refine Albero, we started asking how to design a system better suited for the scale of commercial airflow. That led us to develop a new wet-wall approach, built to create far more contact area while allowing much greater airflow through the system.
To move quickly, we needed a platform to test and prove that idea in the real world.
That platform became Alberello.
Alberello is more than a smaller product. It is the technology testbed helping us bridge what we learned from Albero into the commercial future we are building toward. It lets us rapidly develop, test, and refine the wet-wall system in a compact, design-forward format while generating the insights we need for larger-scale applications.
In that way, Alberello represents something bigger than its size. It is the next chapter in the VerdeTerra story: a product born from what Albero taught us, and a step toward bringing living air systems to commercial and HVAC scale.
