We’re thrilled to share the first wave of results from our collaboration with Georgia Tech. In a series of controlled lab trials, we challenged the Albero photobioreactor, cultivated with Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) ,against a range of CO₂ concentrations to gauge its uptake performance:

  • Rapid uptake at high levels: At an inlet concentration of 3,000 ppm, the Albero removed 1,000 ppm CO₂ within just 15 minutes, and brought it to a safe level within an hour.

  • The worse the air the harder it works: When exposed to 3,000 ppm CO₂, it achieved a peak adsorption efficiency of 71%, all while generating robust biomass growth.

For these tests, we maintained consistent lighting, temperature, and nutrient conditions over five days, and tracked CO₂ daily using a non-dispersive infrared gas analyzer. These early insights not only validate the Albero’s design but also set the stage for our next phase, evaluating VOC removal under real-world indoor conditions.
